The infamous Delhi smog caused due to the stubble burning in the NCR region has led to a serious concern for a healthy living. Delhi is now a distinction holder in air pollution in the entire world. The poor air quality can give rise to many diseases, but fortunately we still have a safety mask in the form of Ayurveda.

Triphala – It helps in improving and strengthening the immunity system to fight any diseases. Triphala restores the imbalance in Tridosha caused by air pollution. Mix 1 tbsp of Triphala powder with 1 tsp of honey and consume it at night.
 

Turmeric – The most powerful herb Turmeric or Haldi is antibacterial, antioxidant and thus it prevents our lungs from the poisonous effects of air pollution. It provides relief from cough and asthma attack. Take a half tsp of turmeric powder with 1 tbsp of ghee or honey in an empty stomach in the morning.

 

 

Tulsi – Tulsi or the Holy Basil which is also known as the Queen of Herbs rejuvenates the air by absorbing the pollutants and also helps the body to restore balance. In a city like Delhi, it is advisable to always keep a Tulsi plant at home. Tulsi Tea or 10-15 ml of Tulsi juice daily will result in clearing of pollutants from the respiratory tract.

 

Jaggery – Jaggery or Gur boosts immunity, helps treat cold and cough and controls the temperature of the body. It is a natural detoxifier so eat jaggery everyday to eliminate toxins and dust particles from your body. Consume jaggery mixed with onion juice to get rid from dry cough.
 

Neem – Neem is a popular medicinal herb and its leaves are used for the treatment of hair, skin and health. It helps in clearing the pollutants from skin and hair. Wash your body, face and hair with water boiled with neem leaves for detoxification. Eat 3-4 leaves atleast twice a week to help purify blood and lymphatic tissue.

 

Ginger – Ayurveda often refers to Ginger as a universal medicine. Daily intake of ginger keeps the immune system in perfect shape. Gingerol helps in reducing airway inflammation and inhibits airway contraction. Mix ginger with black pepper and tulsi to cure respiratory ailments.
 

Pippali – Pippali or Long Pepper is a valuable medicine in the world of Ayurveda. It is an amazing herb which is considered to be the rejuvenator of lungs. It purifies the lungs and enables easy breathing. It is used for the prevention and cure of chest diseases like asthma and bronchitis. Mix 1/8 tsp Pippali powder, ¼ tsp ginger and ¼ tsp turmeric with 1 tbsp honey and drink it with warm water regularly for seven days. Avoid using for infants.
